Presented by - Grant M. Loring, MBA, AHC/CDC, CSI, CDT holds the position of Door Opening Consultant for ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions of the Southwest.  He is based in Mesquite, Texas and primarily generates commercial opening systems (Division 08, 27 and 28) specifications for the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.  Grant has enjoyed the commercial openings industry for 27 years and is active in the Door and Hardware Institute (DHI) as Lone Star North Chapter Secretary and as an Instructor for various DHI Continuing Education Courses.  He is a member of DHI and the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), and is a Professional Affiliate member of the Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

 

Description: An in depth review of the evolution of electronic access control systems including the four basic and numerous peripheral components. Emphasis will be on the newest and future electronic access control technologies and solutions. 

 

Learning Objectives: After completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1.     Review history of mechanical, stand-alone, and networked access control products and the common terminology used to describe their deployment.

2.     Understand how technologies convergence is driving the development of new and sophisticated electronic access control door hardware solutions.

3.     Examine the advantages and disadvantages of intelligent EAC products (IP Enabled, Wiegand Output) and their appropriate applications.

4.     Learn the correct questions to ask and language to use when writing electronic access control products into specifications.
